Second time going and they have been very helpful - they are thorough with our cat and make sure they explore all differentials before confirming a diagnosis. It's on the pricier side but I feel confident that our cat has been well taken care of and spend a good amount of time examining him. They also make an effort to make sure our cat feels comfortable.
If I left my dog here, he would have died. I informed the doctor (Egyptian Nationality) that my dog had a tick. I had been at Jervis Bay; a renowned tick area in Australia. The doctor dismissed my concerns. Even though my dog had all the symptoms for a tick. The doctor was and did not listen to what I was telling him. He was unable to listen to what I was telling him. I know my dog so well so knew his back legs were starting to collapse due to tick paralysis. I then decided on the spot to rush my dog to the Animal Referral Hospital, the nurse found a tick within 30 secs around my dogs mouth. The tick was an enormous size. This area is the most common area for dogs to get ticks and the doctor at Sydney University did not check there. Thank God I decided to trust myself and take the dog to another clinic. Ticks are deadly for dogs and once your dogs starts wobbly on his back legs and breathing funny it is a sign that the Tick paralysis is commencing. If you love your animal - please do not take your dog to this hospital. I work at Sydney University as a full time academic, so had good reason to trust this hospital. I am writing this not to complain but to warn people in hope of saving animals lifes. The Animal Referral hospital is located in Homebush and is highly professional. Thanks to the homebush hospital, my beloved dog Beau is now alive! If I left him at the Sydney University hospital he would be dead.
If we hadnt brought our dog here, not sure he would still be with us today. They are the best for complicated cases and diagnosed a rare case within 24 hours. They communicated well on all occasions and kept us informed (even through the night) on possible tests, treatment plans and his general well being. Highly recommended, they generally care about your pet!
Dr Nicolle Kirkwood has been wonderful in treating my cat! He had been going to another vet practice and put on all sorts of expensive foods to no end but it wasn't until we took him here we got some real insight and proactive, long term treatment. I had almost lost hope in him being able to live normal but after a week stay at SUVTH and the right medication he is a happy, healthy cat. She was also very communicative calling me almost daily during his stay there which was extremely helpful. They offer a very diverse set of specialists so they have every possible treatment path available.
The staff were very friendly and very kind to myself and my dog who was in a bit of pain, very fast but looked over very well wanted the best for jack (dog) Also got a pet put down there a few years ago they were very compassionate and about 2 weeks later got a hand written card from them which was extremely thoughtful! If I have any worries about jack in the night I know I can call and see what they think and if he needs to go in I know he will be looked after very well! Recommend 100%Also the low stars are all about money, I paid $750 got a little surgery to remove a stick in the mouth and an X-ray. Would pay anything for my dog but for those complaining about money definatly should get pet insurance.
