I unfortunately experienced a false alarm in my hotel room. It was a result of steam from the shower. There was improper ventilation in the bathroom and having the window open for almost an hour provided insufficient airflow to clear up the steam. I was unaware the smoke alarm had gone off, until someone from reception came to knock on my door. There was no sound produced from the alarm, anywhere in the hotel. I believe this to be extremely neglect, if god forbid, there was a true fire and no one staying in the hotel would receive proper warning to evacuate. After being confronted with this false alarm I was told I would need to pay a $1600 fee due to the call out. I disputed this because I did not believe it to be right. I spoke with who I believed to be the manager, he said his name was Nick, and he advised me they should be able to get it all sorted, as he told me that 16 year olds smoking weed in their room the month prior and they did not have to pay. (I cannot understand how my having steam in my room is even remotely compared to kids smoking in their room, so I thought in that case it must be okay.) I had blocked my card, but this morning, somehow, the hotel deducted $1811.23 from my account. I dont even know what the additional $211.23 is for, but there was also attempted charges from me $129 and $50, but luckily this was blocked from my card. I do not know how they deducted $1811.23 with my card blocked. It was nothing but horrible service from arrival (beginning with them having run out of room keys), every single patron was yelling at the staff at some point of the night, and I unfortunately am not exaggerating this. This was by far my worst hotel experience.

Too noisy. All trucks and car horns and ambos sirens. No way of getting good night's sleep unless you're used to it. The aircon was always too cold and too humid. Best turned off. Although a new building, the maintenance/upkeep was missing - loose tiles and fittings etc. Policy on holding the room for extra hours not consistent with what's written in the documentation. Wifi was a pain to initiate. Ethernet connection didn't work.

Good value and location, but very noisy.

The receptionist was lovely and bent over backwards to meet our requests. However i got the impression that whoever was assigned to support her was lazy and couldn't give a stuff. Also the room was smelly and internet access failed sometime in the evening.

Friendly staff. Spacious rooms. Very convenient to University of Sydney. Large Samsung TV!
